(Toronto September 24) — Regional producers of the Eastern Canada LeatherSIR/Leatherboy contests are pleased to officially announce the appointment of Jon Stipdonk of Toronto as Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2007. Stipdonk will represent the region (which includes Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada) at the International LeatherSIR/Leatherboy contest October 5-8 (Canadian Thanksgiving/US Columbus Day long weekend) in Dallas, Texas. Stipdonk will compete in Dallas with Ryan Tartaglio, Eastern Canada Leatherboy 2007. Jon Stipdonk, Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2007 The official send-off party for Stipdonk and Tartaglio will take place at the Black Eagle Toronto at 11pm on Friday, September 28. Tartaglio won his title during at regional contest held Saturday, June 9 in Toronto. No contestants stepped forward to run for the LeatherSIR title. When a title is vacant, regional producers seek to find a great candidate from the within community and make an appointment. “Jon has been an active member of Toronto’s leather community for the past 15 years, since his move from Montreal. He has a strong commitment to our community and his willingness to accept this role is a sign of that commitment. He will be an excellent ambassador within our community and will embrace his new title with enthusiasm,” said Brandon Matheson, co-producer of ECLSb. “Jon was entered in the 2007 contest but unfortunately had to withdraw at the last minute due only to work commitments. We’re pleased that he now has this opportunity to represent our community in Dallas,” says Dan Falkenham, co-producer of ECLSb. “As Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2007 I am ready to help where I can at community events and fundraisers. But I also plan to devote time to connecting and working with people on an individual basis – especially newcomers to our community,” says Stipdonk. Stipdonk is a member of the Central Canada Gay Rodeo Association (CCGRA). His interests range from tattoos and piercings, to nudism, travel and cooking, while passion is his motorcycle and the open road. He was first runner-up in the Mr Black Eagle 2006 contest. Stipdonk succeeds Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2006 Sir Franco. Since 2005, the Eastern Canada LeatherSIR/Leatherboy contest has been produced by regional sponsors Brandon Matheson (Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2004) and Dan Falkenham (Eastern Canada Leatherboy 2004), with the support of local business sponsors and community partners.
